Projects & Promos

We were taught to serve.
Everything followed.

"If you serve people, you'll never lack for business."

A mentor's father said it decades ago. It became the blueprint.

Bokeh Creatives is a portrait studio built service-first. Most of what we do happens as Gifted Portrait Projects — sessions offered by application, extended by invitation, to families whose stories we feel called to honor. No session fee. A fine art print, included.

For families who'd rather not apply, or who aren't invited this month, a commissioned session is $500. Same studio. Same care. Same hands. On either path, the artwork — the part that takes weeks to craft — is commissioned separately.

It's a deliberate way to run a studio. We did it on purpose.

Our daughter, Abi

At six months old, our daughter went into emergency brain surgery. The world stopped. In that waiting room, we understood something we'd always known but never felt — the people we love won't always be here.

We came out of it knowing what we create isn't decoration. It's proof. Proof this family existed. Proof this love was real. Proof these eyes looked at you the way they do today, before everything changes.

Two surgeries later, she's flying. And so are we. Abi is why we built a studio.

Natalie & Turbo

Natalie was our photographer. She got Turbo at fourteen. When Turbo turned fourteen, she found out he had cancer. She came to us with one request: give me one session with him before he's gone.

What happened in that studio broke us open. The bond between her and Turbo was the same urgent, devastating love we'd felt in that hospital. Same depth. Same grief waiting to land.

Natalie and Turbo taught us that love has no species.

How a Gifted Project unfolds.

From the moment your story reaches us, to the heirloom that finds your wall.

I
The Application
Tell us who would be in your portraits, and what they mean to you. We choose by story, not by budget.
II
The Invitation
If we feel called to honor your story, we'll extend an invitation to schedule. A small, refundable deposit holds your date — returned in full at your reveal.
III
The Session
A full portrait experience at our Roseville studio. A small team. Hours of unhurried attention. We treat your project the way we'd treat any commission — because in our heads, that's exactly what it is.
IV
The Reveal
Weeks later, you return to view the finished images for the first time alongside your art director. A guided experience, meant to be felt — not rushed.
V
The Heirloom
A hand-finished fine art print on archival paper, included in your project. Yours regardless. Should you choose additional artwork, it is commissioned separately and built by our artisans over the weeks that follow.

Prefer to skip the application? A commissioned session is $500, and your art director will guide you the same way they guide every family we serve.

Why it's so limited

We can't say yes to everyone — and we don't try.

We receive thousands of applications a year. We accept a small number of families each month. Every portrait that leaves our studio passes through multiple artists by hand, on archival materials rated to last a century or more. That kind of work doesn't scale, and we don't want it to. If we said yes to everyone, we wouldn't be able to honor anyone.

If we can't fit you in this month, please apply again. Many of the families we work with applied more than once.
